Sustainability
There are many definitions of sustainability. At Clearwood UK, it means that we are seeking to ensure that our processes and products are developed in an environmentally sensitive way, so that the negative impact on the environment is reduced, without a high cost or compromise.
Sustainability is a constantly evolving process that our Research and Development Department (R&D) are always striving to develop further. All our timber is sourced from sustainable, managed forests and our use of modern manufacturing technologies make the maximum use of this precious resource. When you choose Clearwood UK Windows and door sets you are demonstrating your commitment to environmental sustainability. As awareness of climate change grows,
the use of renewable resources is no longer simply an ethical decision - it is a business issue too.
Clearwood UK is an ISO14001 company and is also a member of TWAS (Timber Window Accreditation Scheme) and the BWF (British Woodworking Federation). This means we make every effort to research and source all our timber from accredited suppliers with a Certified Chain of Custody, as well as producing accredited and tested finished products.
Our commitment to sustainability saw Clearwood UK become the first timber window manufacturer in the UK to achieve an energy rated window from the British Fenestration Registration Council. The rating is awarded based on the thermal insulation properties of the whole window, glazing and frame.
The HERITAGE PLUS Range has also achieved a BFRC ‘A’ rating and the INNOVATION Range has achieved a BFRC ‘B’ rating.
Clearwood UK’s R&D department run a constant programme of product development and improvement. Not only have we recently moved the energy efficiency rating on the HERITAGE PLUS range from ‘B’ to ‘A’, but we are also looking at extending it to other Clearwood UK products so that in the future we will have a whole range of energy-rated products.
